UAE Covers Accommodation, Meals and Rebooking Costs for Over 20,000 Stranded Air Passengers
The United Arab Emirates has announced emergency support measures to assist thousands of air travellers stranded following widespread flight disruptions caused by regional airspace closures.
According to the UAE’s General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA), approximately 20,200 passengers were affected after several international flights were cancelled or delayed due to security concerns across Middle Eastern airspace.
To ease the situation, UAE authorities confirmed that the government will cover accommodation, meals, and flight rebooking expenses for all impacted travellers. The initiative applies to passengers stranded at major transit hubs, including Dubai and Abu Dhabi airports.
Hotels across the country were instructed to extend stays for affected visitors, while airlines and airport authorities coordinated alternative travel arrangements. Officials stated that no traveller should bear additional financial costs resulting from circumstances beyond their control.
The disruption followed escalating regional tensions that led to temporary airspace restrictions across parts of the Gulf, significantly affecting international transit routes passing through the UAE.
National carriers and airport operators continue to work with aviation authorities to rebook passengers and restore normal flight schedules as conditions improve.
Authorities indicated that assistance programs will remain in place until regular flight operations fully resume.
